The borrow pit exposes south dipping beds of pebble conglomerates interbedded with siltstone, sandstone and mudstone. Carbonaceous wood fragments are common. These rocks are mapped as part of Bulkley Canyon formation of the Skeena Group as defined by Bassett and Kleinsphen (1996). The strata here dip towards the south.
